Ventilation panels

In Rack cabinets, apart from passive devices (patch panels, power panels, shelves)

active devices are also mounted. Such devices generate heat during operation and require cooling. Most often, it is sufficient to remove the heated air and provide fresh, cooler air. This is done by means of fansmounted in the roofs and floors of cabinets or by means of ventilation panels mounted in 19” Rack rails. In the first case, cool air is usually forced into the cabinet, which creates positive pressure, which improves ventilation and cooling of the devices. In the second case, air movement in the cabinet is forced, which increases the efficiency of gravity ventilation. in both cases, thermostats are used to control the fans, which turn on the ventilation when a certain temperature is reached. It is possible to design multi-stage ventilation, where successive fans are switched on when the set temperature thresholds are exceeded.

Ventilation panel - when should it be used?

It is important that your devices operate at the correct temperatures. To ensure this, appropriate ventilation panels and thermostats must be installed.

Devices that emit heat:

  • switches, low heat
  • routers, low heat
  • converters, low heat
  • loggers, average amount of heat
  • UPS, Average Heat
  • computers, lots of heat
  • servers, lots of heat

Single devices with low heat emission can usually be cooled by gravity ventilation and do not require the installation of additional ventilation panels and fans. More devices or devices with higher emissions require the installation of ventilation panels and fans. Ventilation should be controlled by a thermostat - then unnecessary operation of the fans will be avoided. It should be noted that in order to ensure the right temperature in 19” the ambient temperature is crucial, which is depends on many factors, e.g. on the season. It is optimal if the ventilation works 10-20% of the time during the year. If it is more, the ambient temperature should be lowered and two or more degrees of ventilation should be used.

If you have a problem with the selection of the ventilation method for the wardrobe, it is worth contacting the company's employee.
