• searching for wires that connect to a specific computer socket

The use of these kinds of computer network testers is essential. Network tester is the basic equipment of every installer. It's hard not to make any mistake connecting the hundreds or thousands of wires needed to build a computer network. Using LAN testers, you can verify the correctness of the installation on an ongoing basis. LAN network testers additionally equipped with a finder allow to find the one responsible for connecting to a specific computer socket in a bundle of any cables.

Professional LAN network testing

Another group of testers are network testers examining specific parameters of computer networks. The devices of the FLUKE company are the most frequently used testers. These are very advanced and very expensive devices. Therefore, they are not used by every installer during the basic installation. In professional LAN networks, after the installation is completed, a verification test of the entire network is performed in terms of meeting the parameters of a specific category of structured cabling.

The result of this test is a report for each connection stating:

• connection length
• test frequency
• correctness of electrical connections and their parameters
• interference between channels (wire pairs)

If the parameters correspond to the standards for a given class, the test for the given connection is passed. If not, correct the fault and test again. If the repair of a structural cabling fault in a computer network requires intervention in the previously tested connections, the test should be repeated,

The most advanced LAN testers perform network transmission tests using specific transmission protocols. The result of such a test is the determination of the transmission speed, its protocol, and the number of possible errors at a given speed for each connection. On this basis, it is possible to detect installation inaccuracies or sources of interference affecting the quality of data transmission in computer networks.
